friends giggling
Whenever I play in school,
Or whenever I swim in a pool,
It’s better with a friend.

Whenever I eat ice cream,
Or whenever I have a good dream,
It’s better with a friend.

Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel (August 19, 1883 – January 10, 1971)1 was born the second daughter of traveling salesman Albert Chanel and Jeanne Devolle. She was born in a small city called Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France.

There was a misspelling on her birth certificate  that read “Chasnel” instead of Chanel, making it almost impossible to trace her family roots.

She was born in a poor house. Her birth was recorded the day after her birth. Two employees of the hospice went to city hall and announced the birth of a girl. However, the hospice employees could not read or write.  When the mayor, François Poitu, wrote down her name, no one knew how to spell it, so the mayor improvised and recorded it with an “s”: ” Chasnel” instead of Chanel.
In 1939, at the beginning of World War II, Chanel closed her shops. She did not think that it was a time for fashion. She moved in at the Hôtel Ritz Paris, where she lived for about 30 years. Chanel made this hotel her home, even during the Nazi occupation of Paris. During that time she was criticized for having an affair with Hans Gunther Von Dincklage, a German officer and Nazi spy who arranged for her to stay in the hotel.
You can see some of her famous quotes below.2

  • “Since everything is in our heads, we had better not lose them.”
  • “There are people who have money and people who are rich.”
  • “Look for the woman in the dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress.”
  • ” A fashion that does not reach the streets is not a fashion.”

December,12,2008

Stephenie Meyer  wrote Twilight between 2003 and 2005. The idea came to her in a dream!  On her search for a publisher she got two big no’s ,but got a three book deal with Little Brown.

About the book:

Twilight is about a 17-year-old named Bella Swan, who moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks,Wasington and falls in love with a Vampire named Edward Cullen .  The book was and is still loved by teenage girls. I haven’t read it yet but I hope to soon.

About the author:

Stephenie was born in Hartford, Connecticut but grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.  She received a B.A. in English at Brigham Young University.  she got married to Christian, nicknamed “Pancho”, in 1994 and had three kids, Gabe, Seth, and Eli.

my black sunIf the sun died today, what would happen? It would be very, VERY dark every day. Most plants would die and we would have very little to eat.

If the sun died today, solar power would be no more.

If the sun died today, morning would be night.

If the sun died today, the earth would be very quiet because all the diurnal animals would be asleep almost all the time. All humans would turn pale.

If the sun died today, what do YOU think would happen?

The moon is old.
The moon is new.
The moon is bold as a new white shoe.
The moon will show.
The moon will go.
